HI-Boston
In its 25 year history, Boston’s award-winning hostel has brought over half a million guests to the city. Located in the Fenway, the Hostel offers access to historic and cultural attractions as well as the city’s fun nightlife. Guests are within easy reach of the famous Freedom Trail, Beacon Hill, Chinatown, Harvard University and Quincy Market. The hostel is only a few steps away from Fenway Park and the fashionable shops on Newbury Street.
There are 208 beds in the current facility, which hosts more than 32,000 guests per year. 60% of guests are international visitors from 85 different countries and 20% of guests are part of a youth group. Facilities include internet access, kitchen and laundry.
In 2010, hostel guests provided more than 5,000 hours of community service to local organizations such as the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, Rosie's Place and the Greater Boston Food Bank through Voluntour Boston and alternative spring break programs.
Hostel staff provides the unique service of itinerary planning for individuals and groups, incorporating cultural and educational activities to demonstrate the region’s rich history, the value of travel and hostellers’ own cultural identity within the global community. HI-Boston offers daily programming and activities to bring people together and promote intercultural awareness.
The Future Boston Hostel
HI-Boston has a monumental year ahead as plans are underway to replace the existing building with an expanded, state-of-the-art facility. Featuring 375 beds in approximately 50,000 square feet of space, the expanded hostel will better accommodate groups and offer expanded common areas for guests.
